EU Internship 2006/2007 (recruitment terminated)

EUIJ (EU Institute in Japan) awards grants to both undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to go to Europe aiming to participate in Internship Programmes offered by EU-related institutes and organisations. Application details will be announced soon.

Targeted Students:
Undergraduate and postgraduate students who are enrolled at EUIJ member Universities comprised of Hitotsubashi University, International Christian University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Tsuda College and also who conduct research on EU-related studies.
Please Note: Foreign students are not eligible to apply for this programme.
Number of Grantees:
Five students for this academic year
host research institutes and organisations:
Grantees will be allocated mainly to EU-related institutes and organisations such as the European Commission, Secretariat of the European Council, The Court of Justice and also be allocated to Nongovernmental Organisations play an important role in EU-related activities and other governmental or private corporations.
Amount of Grant:
500,000 yen per student
The grant includes the following: Roundtrip International Airfare, a livingstipend
Duration:
Period necessary for his or her internship within the duration between 1 October 2006 and 30 September 2007.
Screening:
Candidates will be appointed at each university based on application Documents submitted by applicants, then the students shall be accepted by both the member of EUIJ Internship sub-committee and EUIJ executive committee.
Application Deadline:
Deadlines will be fixed by each university.
Application Documents:
Applicants must edit their application documents following instructions mentioned below in the form of A4 size MS-WORD and send them by e-mail.
Please note: There is no restriction on written format of item (2) and below. You must change page by each item (1) through (6).
  • (1) Application Form: Applicants must write the application details on the form which can be downloaded here.
  • (2) Curriculum Vitae: each one page both in Japanese and English
  • (3) esearch Plan at host institutions or organisations:
    Applicants must edit their research plan with one page both in Japanese and English, two pages in total.
    Applicants must make following points clear:
    The reason for which applicants choose the host institutes or organisations
    Outline of host research institute or organisations
    The relevance of applicants' research
    Progress on liaison with the host institute
  • (4) Itinerary: Applicants must edit their itinerary within one page in English.
  • (5) Reference:A reference letter must be written by the present instructor and/or mentor of applicants in English. Research capability and proficiency in English must be included.
    Please note: contact information of the recommender must be written. A reference letter should not be longer than one page.
  • (6) Expenditure Plan: Expenditure Plan must be written in English within one page
Report after returning:
Grantees must submit a report about their internship at EU-related Institute and Statement of Expenditure within two months after returning from Europe.
Please note: A report about internship must be written in Japanese in four pages and summary of a report must be written in English in two pages of A4 size paper. The summary in English may be published in EUIJ Newsletter. Statement of Expenditure must be written both in Japanese and English.
Please Note: When implementing an internship, strict confidentiality about job description shall be imposed on grantees. Applicants are requested to investigate as to whether he or she will be able to do their internship at the host institute/organisation applicants wish to spend on researching and to submit the results of investigation when applying for.
